A vessel seems to be flying over land. What should I do?
You may notice at times that a vessel's track is unrealistic.
Don't call Air Traffic Control just yet. The vessel is probably still in the water.
This can happen sometimes when one of the onboard transceivers is not giving correct data.
This is not related to PAL or LiveFleet.
To resolve the problem, please contact the support team of the relevant data provider:
- Pole Star Support - support@polestarglobal.com
- StratumFive Support - support@stratumfive.com
Here is an example with Pole Star. In this case, the vessel is transmitting position data via 2 sources:
- AIS - Every 15 minutes
- Inmarsat-C Mobile Earth Station - Every 6 hours
The position provided by the AIS unit is incorrect, which results in the ship track showing a straight line between the 2 different positions.
Another example with StratumFive
The incorrect track reflected on the map is caused by a single erroneous position report.
